Prospective Plant Parent: Orchids are easy, low-maintenance plants that offer stunning statement blooms for flower-loving plant owners.
Difficulty: Super easy and beginner-proof.
Lighting: Orchids thrive in bright indirect light. Be careful of direct sunlight, as it could burn the flowers and foliage. If your Orchid does not get enough light, blooms will not last as long and your plant might not have enough energy to bloom in future seasons.
Watering: Water your Orchid when the top inch of the peat moss feels dry. When watering, remove your Orchid from its container and take it to the sink. Water the roots thoroughly until excess water flows out of the drainage hole. To make sure your plant isn’t holding extra water, allow your Orchid to drain for about five minutes before transferring back to its pot. For healthy roots, Orchids do not like to sit in water or to have their moss dry out completely.
Humidity: Found naturally in neotropical rainforests, Orchids can adapt to lower humidity, but prefer added humidity from misting or a pebble tray.
Temperature: Orchids prefer warmer temperatures between 68-80 degrees. Chilly temperatures may cause your Orchid to stop budding.
